ARM HOLDINGS
Arm Holdings traded at £10 a share during the dot-com boom, and as low as 40p at one point after the bubble burst. Arm designs computer chips that power mobile phones, digital cameras and iPods.
It is now the centre of bid speculation, it rose 5p to a 52 week high of 153¼p on turnover of 31m shares amid talk of a 180p a share cash offer from an American trade buyer.
Apparently fund managers have been buying since April's first Q1 results after Arm said it would accelerate its share buy-back programme and promised to increase the dividend. The share price has been bolstered by takeover rumours and the successful US launch of the Apple iPhone.
