When you sign up you are allocated 100,000 fantasy British pounds to invest (around $150,000) in various funds - so basically a risk-free way of testing your investing skills and maybe teaching you something about the stock market at the same time. Beginners may find it a good way to learn about investing without risking any money and before they actually buy stocks online for real.

The Telegraph has increased the stakes and amended the rules compared to last year. They have also added new prizes and new games.

The game involves picking investments from a selection of fund management companies, one of which is J.P. Morgan Asset Management.

Total beginners to to stocks and shares and investing, can choose the ''Lucky Dip'' option which will create a balanced portfolio to start with which can then be changed as you gain more knowledge. You can also refer friends to take part in the game and your name will be entered into a cash prize draw.

Like in other fantasy games you can create a mini league and compete against other teams.  You may also find it useful to understand something about stock market charts for beginners

The prizes amount to £50,000 but no doubt this amount will be spread over several winners and several months.
